BBC Too

We spent two weeks undercover infiltrating the gym.
"Gym-filtrating" it.

I coined that.

I think it would really catch on if more people infiltrated gyms.

2014, top 5 "how to..." searches for british cities:

London:  1 - "how to kiss"
Edinburgh: 1 - "how to kiss"
Glasgow: 1 - "how to kiss"
Leeds, Newcastle, Brighton, Nottingham:  1 - "how to kiss"
Manchester: 1 - "how to crochet" ...

Goes even further, the 3rd most googled how to in Manchester is "how to knit". The 4th is "how to make". Make?? Take some time off, collect yourself and read on.

Oxford: 1 - "how to paraphrase". Wow, great academic start. Except that it's followed by some rather common and (you'd think) straightforward entries: 2 - "how to draw", 3 - "how to crochet", 4 - "how to sleep" and the one I'd like to think I'm grasping, 5 - "how to blog".

Furthering the "analysis" ... Leeds seems surprisingly high-brow, with 3 of its first 5 terms being "how to study", "how to reference" and "how to analyze". In contrast, Cambridge seems surprisingly interested in "how to massage", "how to decorate" and "how to whistle".

Bristol seems full of bright young activist mechanical people, interested in "how to solder" (4), "how to sleep" (3, also encountered in Oxford), "how to hack" (5 AND 2). Of course, all these (probably) jobless activists also need to know "how to squat" (1).

In a frenzy of interest for "how to kiss", met with small exceptions in almost each top 2 per city one top search stands out. No, it's not Manchester's "how to crochet". It's Belfast's "how to cut". That's right, an inordinate number of people in Belfast are interested in how one increases the efficiency of cutting. Cutting what?, is the question that begs itself. Well, to my recollection, a stereotype about Belfast is that it's a felonious area. Before writing it down I want to double-check by googling "Belfast stereotypes". I run across a Monopoly table where 80% of the squares are "go to jail". 'Nuff said.

In conclusion, It seems the question of the day is "crocheting - the next big thing in relaxation?"
